Join the Hill City Lions Club (HCLC) for a basket bingo Saturday, Dec. 16. There will be holiday music, an ugly Christmas sweater contest, door prizes and of course bingo.
“It’s just a fun time to get together for fellowship and to play,” said Stefanie Doaty, HCLC president.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a free-will donation dinner including white chili, red chili and vegetable beef soup among other things.
A half dozen women came to the Keystone Library for a community discussion about the South Dakota One Book.
“The Seed Keeper,” by Diane Wilson parallels many things going on today for South Dakotans and people in general, said Molly Barari, who led the discussion on behalf of the program sponsor, the South Dakota Humanities Council.
Barari described the book as “dense”, adding, “there is a lot in it.”
Christmas came to Hill City with a flurry of festivities and snow last weekend. Things kicked off Nov. 24 with the Kris Kringle Vendor Fair, which allowed crafters a chance to show off their work, vendors a chance to market their products and shoppers a chance to purchase unique gifts. Despite the weather, 43 vendors made the trek to Hill City to set up their goods in the school gyms.
The weekend forecast looks a little chilly, but the hot cocoa is flowing in Hill City. Christmas is barely a month away, and Hill City is kicking off the countdown with a wonderful lineup of events. Grab your family or friends and find a new tradition to get into the Christmas spirit.
