Dr. Bill Meirose offers advice for suicide prevention, intervention, postvention

What can you practically do to prevent suicidal thoughts? How can you help someone who is struggling? Why is post-intervention important? 
Dr. Bill Meirose discussed all this and more in his Suicide Prevention Class Jan. 16 at Community Lutheran Church (CLC) hosted by Love INC. 
According to CLC pastor Jeremy Duprey, “Love INC (In the Name of Christ) mobilizes local churches to love their neighbors and help people who are in need of help.”

Hill City has a brand new coffee shop to satisfy cravings for freshly-baked cinnamon rolls and locally-roasted coffee. 
Owned by Rudi McDaniels-Dewey, her husband Conrad Dewey and her daughter Elizabeth Knapp, Elizabeth’s Coffee Company (ECC) is located between Jewel of the West and Stage Stop Leather & Gifts on Hill City Main Street. It opened Jan. 5.

— Ron Rossknecht of Hill City took his oath of office as a District 1 Pennington County Commissioner during the commission’s first meeting of the new year, Jan. 2. Seventh Circuit Court Judge Jeff Davis administered the oath of office, and Rossknecht’s son Trevor held the Bible for the swearing in ... Keystone town hall got a slight makeover. The Keystone Town Board voted unanimously to approve a request for bids to prepare and paint the walls of the town hall large room. In addition the city offices shuffled spaces.

Disruptions expected from Hwy. 385 construction

Hill City School District Superintendent Blake Gardner is trying to plan well in advance for major disruptions to student and staff transportation that will result from a $72 million project to rebuild 15 miles of U.S. 385, the only major north-south route through the central Black Hills.
The three-year project will include five separate complete closures of the winding two-lane highway that flows amid scenic lakes, giant rock outcroppings and dramatic ridge lines but which also has a high rate of crashes and fatalities.
