Barbara “Paddy” Everett was born July 2, 1944, in Rapid City, S.D., to Walter and Mecia (Butler) Clifford.
Paddy graduated from Custer (S.D.) High School, in 1962. She worked as a nurse aid and restorative aid for 26 years in long term care facilities, retiring in 2006. She loved her career and touched the lives of many residents and co-workers. She lived in Custer most of her life and loved the history and beauty of the Black Hills.

Claudia Speckels

Claudia J. Speckels was born July 6, 1946, in Medesto, Calif., to Marvin and Beverly (Percival) Hall. She graduated from the University of California in Santa Barbara and married Jerome “Joe” Speckels in 1970. Joe’s job required many moves and they lived in numerous places in the United States, finally settling in Custer, S.D., many years ago.
Claudia enjoyed nature and being in the outdoors.  Watching the wildlife and the sunrises and sunsets were the highlights of her day. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family.

Albert Duncan

Albert Wesley Duncan was born May 5, 1922, in Custer, S.D., the son of Albert Lee Duncan and Hilda Sofie Ellefsen Duncan. He attended grade school at Sanator (S.D.) and high school at Custer (S.D.) High School in South Dakota. He was active in sports where he excelled in track and field.

Connie Steen

Connie Mae (Churchill) Steen was born, raised and resided on a ranch near Fairburn, S.D.  She graduated from Rapid City (S.D.) Central High School in 1977 and continued to work on the ranch near Fairburn after graduating.
She met Mell Steen of Rapid City in 1982 and they married in 1983. Connie went from being a single woman in her early 20s, to a loving wife of Mell, and loving stepmother of two young boys, Kane and Matt. Connie and Mel added a beautiful blessing to the family in September of 1988 when their daughter Chelsea was born.

Richard Worthington

Richard F. Worthington, of Custer, S.D., passed away Feb. 23, 2022, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hot Springs, S.D. He was 73.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marye Worthington of Custer.
Services will be held in the future at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.

Mary Ann Geenen

Mary Ann Geenen was born in January 1947, in Evergreen Park, Ill., to Frank and Helen (Liegenfeld) Toth. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1965 and attended American School of Beauty Culture in downtown Chicago, Ill.

Joyce Moran

Joyce Ann Moran was born May 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Helen (Hubert) Larson.  
On July 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Moran at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Ill.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and being creative with crafts; but most of all, she loved spending time with family.  
Joyce passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. She was 86.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by Arland Larson,  Roger and Pat Larson and Gene and Diana Larson.

Ronald Treloar

Ronald G. Treloar was born May 5, 1941, in Custer, S.D., to Waldo and Leona (Selby) Treloar. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps until his honorable discharge in 1963.
Ronald passed away Feb. 14, 2022, at his residence in Custer. He was 80.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; his sister, Roselie Bindel; and his brother, Waldo James Treloar Jr.

Franklin Shobe

Franklin Shobe, 80,  of Hermosa, passed away on Monday Feb. 14, 2022.

Robert Meakim

Robert Francis Meakim was born Dec. 30, 1943, in Evergreen Park, Ill. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High in 1961, where he then trained to become an electrician.
He married Patricia Susnis Sept. 25, 1965, and the they had three children—Christine, John and Robert.
After a family vacation to Colorado, Robert and Patricia fell in love with the state and moved the family there in 1973. They built their own home and raised their family there until both Robert and Patricia retired in 1999.
