Ronald Raymond Lee, 81, of Smithwick, S.D., passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, in Rapid City, S.D.
On Sunday evening Sept. 26, 2021,  Ronald went home to be with the Lord. For those who knew him, his passion for everything he put his mind to was evident. From boxing to football in his younger years, to remodeling and building houses, he was always on the go right up until his health gave way. He always wanted people to do their best. Foremost was his desire for his family and all he knew to follow Jesus Christ with all our hearts and serve God!

Ardelle L. McPherson

A memorial service will be held for Ardelle L. McPherson Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Custer  (S.D.) Lutheran Fellowship.   
Ardelle passed away Sept. 1, 2020, in Oro Valley, Ariz.
The McPherson family invites all her vaccinated friends and family to join them in remembering Ardelle and to celebrate her life. Masks will be required.  
Memorial contributions may be sent to Custer Lutheran Fellowship or Custer Senior Center.

Thomas Thompson

Thomas D. Thompson of Custer, S.D., passed away in Owasso, Okla., Sept. 13, 2021. He was 75.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 through 1988. He enjoyed returning to the Black Hills of South Dakota as often as possible. He was a lover of animals and nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry and Mabel Ruth Welchert;  brother, Lawrence Chalmer Thompson; sister, Linda Sue Harbison; brother, Daniel Duane Thompson; and brother, Thomas John Welchert.  

Evelyn Fisher

Evelyn Luella (Hendrickson) Fisher was born in Custer, S.D.,  Feb. 1, 1921, to Guy Paul Hendrickson and Lillian Madeline Sutliff Hendrickson. She grew up riding horses, reading, sewing, cooking and in other ways helping as the oldest of eleven children.

Bobby Hamaker

Bobby Lee Hamaker was born March 8, 1947, in Crawford, Neb., to Tim F. and Ruth (Tolliver) Hamaker. He was a cowboy in the Ft. Robinson area.  Bobby proudly served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1969.
Bobby, of Custer, S.D., passed away Sept. 8, 2021, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veteran’s Home in Hot Springs, S.D. He was 74.

Janet Wellington

Janet  L. Wellington was born March 15, 1925, in Oak Town, Ind., to Herbert and Nellie (Joslin) Harritt.  She was a high school graduate from Linton Stockton High School.
Janet married Earl Dale Wellington Dec. 31, 1947. She had a career at Ampex Electronics in the assembly line.
Janet loved singing in church choir and being with friends and family. She also loved reading Danielle Steel novels.
Janet, of Custer, S.D., died Aug. 29, 2021, at Monument Health in Custer. She was 96.

William Anderson

William LeRoy Anderson was born in  Dec. 23, 1933, Ethel, Wash., to Harold and Elsie Anderson.  There were three boys born to this family.
Bill was in the Air Force, where he played football, then served in the Korean War for three and a half years.  He was then a logger and high climber in Alaska, Washington and Oregon.  
After moving from Alaska to South Dakota he met and married Gerldine (Pooley-Woodward) in 1963 and helped raise her seven children. Bill worked at the coal mines at Kerr-McGee and Jacobs Ranch, in Wyoming as a supervisor for 20 years.

Raymond Walker

Raymond David Walker was born Oct. 7, 1968, in St. Louis, Mo., and attended high school at San Clemente, Calif. He also studied electronics at Palomar College. Raymond, “Little Ray “to his friends and family in California, spent his teens up in Shaver Lake with his dad, which he always spoke of fondly.
He grew up strong working with his dad breaking rock—so strong that he could even bend a quarter in half with two fingers.

Kenneth Settles

Kenneth Marion Settles was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Greeley, Colo., to Marion and Velma (King) Settles.  He married Neva Jackson in 1942.
Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 184th AAA Battalion in Normandy/Northern France and Rhineland/Central Europe from 1943 until his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1946.
 Ken, of Custer, S.D., passed away Aug. 25, 2021. He was 96.
He will be remembered for his loving support of his family, joy for being outdoors in natural beauty, fishing and observing wildlife and his overall upbeat and positive outlook.

Dennis Kinnamon

Dennis Allen Kinnamon was born May 4, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Leonard and Priscilla Kinnamon.    
Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He married Rose Floden July 22, 1967. Dennis and Rose were residents of Custer from 1973-87, where Dennis was a building contractor.
They moved to Texas and ranched there from 1987-98.  They then moved to Rockford, Ill., to be closer to their son and grandson, where Dennis was a superintendent of a construction company.
