Dennis Keith Stuard, 65, of Hill City, S.D., passed away Feb. 16, 2023, at Monument Health in Rapid City, S.D.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 4, at 9 a.m., with the rosary starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by memorial services at 10 a.m. at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City.   Burial will be at Hill City Cemetery following services. 

Louella Peterson

Louella Edna Peterson was born in Ridge, Mont., and moved to Newcastle, Wyo., where she graduated high school in 1963.
After high school she attend business college in Rapid City, S.D.
While she was at a dance in the Spencer Hall she met Ervin Peterson. Ervin fell for her because she was as country as him. On Oct. 18, 1967, Lou and Ervin married in Newcastle. The couple had three children— Gary, Brett and Chad.

Louella Peterson

Steven Eckholm

Steven William Eckholm was born to Roger and Fran Eckholm June 12, 1944, in St. Paul, Minn.
By the time he was a toddler, his family had moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he spent his entire childhood, grudgingly attending school, riding his bike, ice skating, exploring the nearby wilderness areas, playing baseball on the 1959 Pony All Star League and the 1960 Black Hills Colt League. His talent with golf clubs won him a few trophies and skiing at Terry Peak became a passion. 

Erling Kelting

Erling Sheldon Kelting was born in Moorhead, Minn., Dec. 17, 1936. He was the son of Otto and Alice (Halvorson) Kelting. 
Erling graduated from Moorhead High School and from State College, Moorhead with degrees in Industrial Arts and Physical Education.
During college Erling married the love of his life, Yvonne Abbey. They spent 65 years together. He was employed for 35 years at Pelican Rapids High School in Pelican Rapids, Minn., where he was a shop teacher, a beloved track, gymnastics and football coach and served for the Minnesota National Guard. 

Robert Warder

Robert “Bob” Warder was born in Zanesville, Ohio, Nov. 14, 1937 to Richard C. and Edith (Moser) Warder.  He attended elementary schools in West Virginia and Murfreesboro, Ark.
At the completion of his junior year in Arkansas  Bob and his family moved to Pierre, S.D., in 1954. His father was employed as a project engineer on the Oahe Dam Project. His mother was an elementary school teacher in Pierre.  Bob had two brothers, Richard, C. Jr. and John M.

Jeri Verchio

Jeri Verchio was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Elwood and Selma Ferry.
Jeri was an avid reader and enjoyed being outdoors with family, fishing and wildlife watching.
She was best known by her family for quiet strength and her family learned when Jeri spoke, you better listen. She always put her family first and loved preparing everyone’s favorite foods for birthdays and holidays.

Hiram Neiffer

Hiram Melvin Neiffer was born Feb. 9, 1931 to Jake and Viola (Kursave) Neiffer in his grandfather’s store in Longvalley S.D. He joined older brother Eugene and was raised in Longvalley with younger siblings, Mardella (Preble), Roger, Dean, Elaine and Edward, attending school through the eighth grade, leaving school to work on the family farm and for neighboring farms until he left to drive fuel liner trucks.

Julie Goldsberry

Julie Marie Goldsberry was born Jan. 18, 1960, in Corona Calif.
Julie and husband, Kim, made Hill City, S.D., their home in 2007 after falling in love with the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Julie bravely fought Stage 4 metastatic  breast cancer for 2-1/2 years.
Julie passed away Dec. 3, 2022. She was 62.
Loved by everybody, her laughter and smile shined brighter than the sun.
Julie will be lovingly missed by all those who knew her and will live on their hearts.

Larry Walker

Larry E. Walker was born Jan. 4, 1945, in Pierre, S.D., to Chet and Vera (Hopkins) Walker. He grew up and spent most of his life on a ranch in southeast Meade County, South Dakota, on the scenic Cheyenne River breaks. Throughout his childhood, he rode horseback with his four other siblings to attend rural grade school. Larry graduated from Wall (S.D.) High School and went on to attend Black Hills State University (S.D.).
